Investigation of the Relationship between Hatay Ziyaret Hill Wind Farm and Birds

Within the scope of the study carried out between August and October 2011, the relationship between birds and wind turbines was examined and possible risks for birds were identified for the 19 wind turbines located on Ziyaret Hill in Hatay-Samandağı District.

Within the scope of the study which is revealing the relationship between wind turbines and birds;

• field visits were made,
• bird-turbine collisions were recorded,
• bird species in the area, their main routes, distances between the birds and the turbines, the birds’ flight altitudes and the sensitive areas for the birds in the region were determined.
